Theatre In the Raw is Performing at The Point ARTIST-RUN CENTRE’s 10th Annual Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival, August 6-7, 2021

VANCOUVER/ WHISTLER, BC Theatre in the Raw is delighted to be performing the one-act IN RE: RADDING v GLAZER by New York City playwright Steve Karp at the 10th Annual Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival in Whistler BC on August 6 & 7! Theatre In the Raw will be performing an original one-act play outdoors on the floating stage on Alta Lake at the Point Artist-Run Centre (5678 Alta Lake Rd, Whistler, BC). The theatre first premiered the play in Vancouver in 2019, and this will be a first for the 27-year-old Theatre In the Raw to perform a one-act on water.

Set against the backdrop of The Point Artist-Run Centre’s heritage lodge on the beautiful shore of Alta Lake, with the audience sitting under a Festival tent. The Flag Stop Festival has pulled out all the stops featuring three theatre companies - Theatre In the Raw from Vancouver, Between Shifts Theatre from Squamish, and The Point’s own Flag Stop Theatre - to showcase seven short one-act comedies, standup and improv. The playwrights include Katherine Fawcett, John McGie, Steve Karp, Janice Carroll, Joseph T. Leander and Brandon Barrett with original works.Top of FormBottom of Form

We are excited to be performing a play live in front of an audience again for the first time since December 2019. THE CHILL ON LIVE THEATRE PERFORMANCES IS MELTING! The festival will feature three theatre companies with seven total one-acts spread across the two evenings of performance. There will also be live music, aerial performances, and yes, even a clown … and more including dinner! We are honoured to be a part of this creative endeavor and hope this marks a return to regular live performances down the road.

Doors & Opening Acts start at 6:00pm; live bands and Dinner at 6:30pm; Theatre performances at 8pm; Live band 8:50pm then an intermission with more Theatre Performances at  9:20pm and closing at 10:30pm at the Point Artist Run Centre in Whistler under the Festival Tent. Check it out yourself live or stream it from the comfort of your own home. You can buy tickets for either of the in-person festival dates for $50 with Dinner, or $30 for the show only -- or purchase the live stream for either night for $10.

The Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival, “…wouldn’t be possible without great support” says producer Stephen Vogler and with, “a huge shout-out must go to our proud presenters, Gibbons Whistler, Nesters Market and

Stinky's on the Stroll, with major sponsor Mountain Law, and support from BC Arts Council/Province of BC, The Resort Municipality of Whistler, Cranked Espresso, Aphrodite's Organic Café, Pasta Lupino, Russell Brewing, Nesters Liquor Store and the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.”

STAY SAFE and KEEP SUPPORTING THE ARTS

>>> Ongoing Theatre In the Raw Work

Also, we are always in the process of producing series of original One-Act plays as well as considering mounting a production of a classical theatre play or a revived musical.

Our Mythical Voices for Our Time Project has turned into an ongoing five to possibly six year project: There are many good scripts still "sitting on the back burner" that we would like to produce in the future. Additionally we are always looking to produce winning One-Acts from our Biennial Play Writing Contest. These could be produced as Click Jay's Mug to Buy Theatre In the Raw a Virtual Coffee...part of another One-Act Festival or Mini-Tour when time, venue, and finances will allow.

Our continuing original radio play broadcast over Vancouver Co-Op Radio CFRO 100.5FM The Arts Rational program (Thursday nights @ 21:00-22:00) moves forward smashingly. When the opportunity arises we manage to produce a script with an array of bells and whistles, broadcasting it live on air. The pieces are usually 30-40 minutes in length and we look forward to producing more.

We usually alternate new original works with classics that are not often performed. We are currently looking at works by William Saroyan, George S. Kaufman, or a Shakespeare drama for the 2018/2019 season and beyond.

Keep checking back here to this page for updates.
